  2. Assign a site and a holder

    Bind the asset to a site zone and the crew or person responsible, so custody is explicit from the first day on the job.

  3. It moves under watch

    A GPS-tagged machine reports its own position; the platform checks it against its assigned zone. QR-tagged tools are located at their last scan.

  4. Exceptions raise an alert

    asset_out_of_zone fires when a machine leaves its site; overdue_return fires when a checked-out item passes its due date. Both name the asset and the holder.

  • GPS makes sense on high-value movable plant, not on every hand tool. A QR-tagged tool is located at its last scan, not continuously.
  • GPS reporting interval and tag battery life are device-dependent and are not stated here as a fixed figure — they are scoped to the machine and duty cycle.
  • A GPS tag reports over GSM, so in a coverage dead zone fixes buffer and backfill when signal returns rather than appearing live.
  • Out-of-zone detection needs a configured site zone. A machine moving where no zone is defined is recorded, but not zone-evaluated.
  • This is not an immobiliser or an engine-cut for plant. It tells you where a machine is and raises the alarm; it does not stop it.
