Retail POS and anti-theft hardware

Every device a Trakora shop runs on, grouped by where it sits: the counter kit that rings up a sale, and the door kit that answers whether a tagged item left unsold. These are device classes, matched to the module — not a live stock list, and no model number is fixed on the page. Specs and prices that are not published read as a dash.

Filter the kit like a marketplace

Shop for retail hardware the way you would on a listings site — by where it goes, how it connects, and what it does. The counts show how many device classes fall under each facet on this page.

Facets marked are real options, but the exact models and per-facet counts are not published on this page. Ask for what fits your shop and we confirm the specific device.

Counter kit

Barcode scanner

Counter · reads a SKU into the till

Scans a product barcode straight into the shared SKU tree so a line rings up against the right item and price. Available as wired or wireless, 1D laser or 2D imager.

Till receipt printer

Counter · prints the customer receipt

Prints the sale receipt at the till. This is the receipt printer for the POS — it is separate from any TRA fiscal device, which stays your existing setup.

Paper width, interface and speed: . Fiscal (EFD/VFD) is separate — see the note.

Cash drawer

Counter · holds notes and coins

The lockable drawer at the till, triggered on a cash sale. Ordinary retail cash handling, tied to the named cashier on the shift.

Tag detacher

Counter · clears a hard tag on sale

Removes or deactivates a reusable RFID hard tag at the till once the item is sold, so the same tag can go back on the next unit of stock.

Detacher type and tag compatibility: (matched to your tags).

Door kit

RFID gate reader

Door · reads tags passing through

The reader at the doorway that detects a tagged item crossing it and checks whether the till cleared it. It is what makes the gate answer a question rather than react to metal.

Frequency, read range and tag types: (measured in your doorway before you buy).

Gate buzzer / alarm

Door · sounds on an unsold tag

The audible buzzer wired to the gate reader. It sounds only when a tagged item that was not sold at the till passes through — the consequence, not the record.

audiblereader-linked/ gate-buzzer
Volume and mounting: (quoted with the gate reader).

RFID stock tags

Door + counter · what the gate reads

The tags that go on the lines worth protecting — a reusable hard tag or a stick-on label. A tag is cleared at the till on sale; an uncleared tag at the door is what sounds the buzzer.

Every spec column reads a dash on purpose: no model, range or price is fixed on this page, because the right device is confirmed against your counter and your doorway. The feature column is the one thing that is real — which capability each device serves.

What the market charges — for context only. Barcode scanners are widely sold in Tanzania: on the Jiji marketplace, basic units are listed from around TSh 75,000, with most listings between TSh 100,000 and TSh 290,000.* That is the going rate for the device class, from third-party sellers — it is not a Trakora price and it is not what appears on your quote. We quote the specific device that fits your setup, in TZS.

Market range for barcode scanners observed on the Jiji Tanzania marketplace (jiji.co.tz), August 2026, listings from independent sellers. Cited as market context only. Trakora device models, specifications and prices are until confirmed for your deployment; RFID gate read range, tag types and detacher compatibility are confirmed in your doorway before purchase.

One thing this hardware is not

The receipt printer is not a fiscal device

The till receipt printer here prints a customer receipt from the POS. It is not a TRA electronic fiscal device (EFD) or virtual fiscal device (VFD), and this page claims no EFD/VFD integration and no TRA approval. If you must issue a fiscal receipt, you keep the fiscal device or service you use today; tell us what it is and we will say whether it fits. TRA publishes the list of EFD and VFD suppliers.

Honest limits

What to check before you order

Set your expectations

  • Device models, specs and prices are not published on this page — each reads a dash until it is confirmed for your shop.
  • RFID gate read range depends on the doorway, the tag type and what else is nearby; it is measured in your entrance before you buy, not promised as a number here.
  • Only tagged stock is protected at the door. An untagged item passing the gate does not sound the buzzer — tagging is your choice per line.
  • The till receipt printer is not a fiscal (EFD/VFD) device and no TRA certification is claimed.
  • The Jiji figures shown are third-party marketplace prices for the device class, cited as context — they are not Trakora's prices.
FAQ

Hardware questions

What hardware do I need to start?

At minimum a barcode scanner and a till printer for the counter. If you want anti-theft at the door, add RFID stock tags, a gate reader, a gate buzzer and a tag detacher.

What is the RFID read range at the gate?

It is not published as a fixed number, because it depends on the doorway, the tag and the surroundings. We measure it in your entrance before you buy, so you see the real figure for your shop.

Can I use scanners I already own?

Often yes — we quote around hardware that fits. Tell us the scanner or printer you run today and we will confirm whether it works with the till.

Is the till printer a TRA fiscal device?

No. It prints a POS receipt and is not an EFD or VFD. Fiscal receipting stays your existing setup, and this page claims no TRA approval — tell us your device and we will say whether it fits.

How much does the hardware cost?

Trakora hardware prices are quoted per deployment and not listed here. For context, third-party barcode scanners sell in Tanzania from around TSh 75,000, but that is a marketplace price, not ours. See the pricing page.
