Mining site security & zone monitoring

A mine is a map of zones that different people are and are not allowed into — the pit, the explosives store, the plant, the gold room. Trakora watches those zones and raises an alert the moment a tracked person, vehicle or asset enters one it has no permission for, or moves after hours. Who was where, when they shouldn't have been.

The unauthorized_zone rule

Who was in the pit at 2 a.m.?

The costliest security questions on a mine are about the wrong person in the wrong place: someone in the explosives store off-shift, a vehicle in the gold room's approach at night, a contractor in a pit they were never cleared for. The unauthorized_zone rule turns that question from a next-day investigation into a real-time alert.

1 · What fires it

An entry with no permission

A tracked person, vehicle or asset crosses into a zone its tag has no permission for. The unauthorized_zone rule fires on the entry itself — it is a permission model, not just a fence, so the same zone can be allowed for one tag and forbidden for another.

2 · What the operator sees

A named breach in the alert centre

The breach names the tag, the zone and the time, and reaches the /alerts centre and SMS, WhatsApp and push. The state is carried by the word ZONE BREACH and an icon — never by colour alone — so a control-room operator reads it correctly at a glance.

3 · What they do next

Dispatch and log

Security dispatches to the exact zone while the breach is live, and the event stays on the record — who, where, when — as the incident log for the shift handover, the investigation or the report.

Zone access log — one shift, one site

Four zone events. One unauthorised entry into the explosives store and one after-hours movement in the plant, each labelled in words, not colour alone.

Illustrative figures for layout only — not a customer record. Zones, permissions and operating hours are configured values; the state is named in words, never by colour alone.

What you run on it

The security desk's toolkit

Real rules and surfaces of the cargo-security module, applied to a mine.

Restricted-zone alerts

A permission model over your zones: the unauthorized_zone rule fires the moment a tag enters somewhere it isn't cleared for.

/ unauthorized_zone

After-hours movement

Nothing should move after the shift ends — when it does, after_hours_movement tells the desk, so a quiet site stays quiet.

/ after_hours_movement

Tamper detection

A device or seal physically interfered with raises tamper — loss prevention on an asset or store, not a customs journey.

Central alert centre

Every event lands in the /alerts centre, so the control room works one prioritised queue rather than four channels.

/ alerts

Incident record

Every breach and movement stays on the record — who, where, when — as the incident log for a shift handover, investigation or report.

Vehicle & asset tracking

Tie the zone model to fleet vehicles and tracked assets, so a loader or a generator triggers the same rules as a person.

What to expect

Honest limits

Security software is one layer of a mine's protection. Being clear about which layer is the point.

What this cannot do

  • Trakora is a monitoring and alerting platform. It is not a guard force, an armed-response service or an access-control barrier — it tells your security team where and when a breach happened; the response on the ground stays with them.
  • Zone alerts need tags and zones configured. An untagged person or a zone you have not drawn cannot trigger a rule — the model only sees what you have set up.
  • After-hours movement depends on the operating hours you define; a site with no hours set has no "after hours" to alert on.
  • Tracking is over GSM/GPS. In a signal shadow underground or in a deep pit, fixes buffer and backfill on reconnection rather than appearing live.
  • An alert is a prompt to act, not the act itself. The incident record is strong evidence; the dispatch, the challenge and the outcome are your team's.

Figures shown as are to be confirmed — no per-site price is published on this page, because it is scoped per deployment in TZS with a VAT invoice. No number here is invented.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a restricted-zone alert?

The unauthorized_zone rule: it fires when a tracked person, vehicle or asset enters a zone its tag has no permission for — a permission model, so the same zone can be allowed for one tag and forbidden for another.

Will I know about movement at night?

Yes — the after_hours_movement rule flags any movement outside the operating hours you define, so a site that should be still tells you the moment it isn't.

Is Trakora a guard service?

No. Trakora is a monitoring and alerting platform. It tells your security team where and when a breach happened; the response on the ground is theirs. It is not armed response or a physical barrier.

How is this different from container tracking?

Both share a tamper rule, but cargo security is loss prevention anywhere — a pit, a store, a static asset — while container tracking is customs and transit evidence, port to consignee. This page is the loss-prevention one.

What do I need on site to make it work?

Tags on the people, vehicles and assets you want to watch, and zones drawn with their permissions and operating hours. The rules only see what you have configured.

How much does it cost?

Cargo security is scoped per deployment in TZS with a VAT invoice — the figure depends on your site, zones and tag count. Talk to sales for a quote against your operation.
