BLE temperature probe pairing

Trakora supports Bluetooth Low Energy temperature probes for fridges, vaccine carriers, cold rooms, and refrigerated trucks. This guide pairs a probe with the Trakora mobile app and gets you receiving readings within ~5 minutes.

What you'll need

  • A Trakora-supplied BLE temperature probe (TempTag-T1 or compatible)
  • The Trakora mobile app (Android 9+ or iOS 14+)
  • Bluetooth and Location enabled on your phone (Android requires Location for BLE scanning)
  • The asset you want to monitor (fridge, cool box, vehicle)

1. Activate the probe

  • Pull the plastic battery tab. The probe blinks green twice.
  • Battery life is ~12 months at 1 reading per minute. The CR2477 is user-replaceable.
  • Effective range is 5–10 m through one wall, longer in open air.

2. Pair in the Trakora app

  1. Open the app and go to Cold Chain → Sensors → New sensor.
  2. Tap Scan BLE. Nearby probes appear as their MAC address (e.g. E2:8A:1F:...).
  3. Match the MAC against the sticker on the probe and tap it.
  4. Give the sensor a name (Vaccine fridge — Sinza Pharmacy) and assign it to a location.

3. Set thresholds

For vaccines follow MoH PQS guidance — typically 2 °C to 8 °C. For frozen goods set -25 °C to -15 °C. Trakora alerts when readings drift outside the band for longer than the excursion grace you choose (default 10 minutes).

4. Calibration

If you have a calibrated reference thermometer, enter the reference reading at Sensor → Calibration. Trakora stores a per-probe offset and applies it to every future sample. NIST-traceable calibration is recommended every 12 months for MoH audits.

5. Low-battery and disconnection alerts

These are on by default:

  • Low battery — fires below 20 %.
  • Lost contact — fires after no reading for 30 minutes (configurable per sensor).
