Handheld RFID scanner — Chainway C66

The Chainway C66 is the rugged UHF + 1D/2D scanner Trakora bundles for stocktake, picking, and inventory verification. This guide pairs it to the Trakora mobile app and runs your first scan.

What you get in the box

  • C66 unit with battery (8 hours typical use)
  • USB-C charging cable
  • Wrist strap and pistol-grip handle
  • IP65, 1.5 m drop spec

1. Charge and power on

Charge for 3 hours before first use. Hold the power button for 3 seconds to boot. The C66 runs Android 11 — Trakora's app is pre-installed on units shipped from us.

2. Pair with the Trakora mobile app

Two pairing modes:

  • Internal mode (recommended) — the C66 is the Android device, so the Trakora app and the scanner are one. No pairing needed.
  • Bluetooth keyboard mode — the C66 acts as a wedge for a separate phone or tablet. In Trakora app go to Settings → Scanner → Pair Bluetooth, then on the C66 enable HID mode (Settings → Scanner Service → Output Mode → HID).

3. Pick a scan mode

In the Trakora app's scan screen:

  • Single scan — squeeze trigger once, one tag read. Use for picking against a list.
  • Batch scan — hold the trigger down to read up to 200 tags per second. Use for cycle-count and goods receiving.
  • Scan-to-search — type or scan a SKU; the C66 then beeps louder as you point it at the matching tag (geiger mode). Use to find a missing pallet.

4. Run your first count

  1. Go to Warehouse → Cycle count → New count.
  2. Pick a zone (e.g. A-aisle).
  3. Squeeze the trigger and walk the aisle for ~30 seconds.
  4. Tap Reconcile — Trakora flags expected-but-missing and unexpected-found items.

Battery and care

  • Charge nightly. Below 15 % battery the read range drops noticeably.
  • Wipe the antenna face with a damp cloth — dust kills range faster than you'd expect.
  • Don't leave it in a sunlit truck cab; the LCD ages quickly above 50 °C.
