Trakora — Troubleshooting

Why am I missing alerts?

Missing alerts — checklist

If a real event happened (geofence breach, temperature excursion, gate-out unsold) but you didn't get a notification, walk through this list.

1. Is the rule active?

Rules & Automations → Rules. Check the rule's toggle is on. A rule paused for testing is the most common cause of missing alerts.

2. Is the channel configured?

For each rule, channels (push, email, SMS, WhatsApp, webhook) are configured separately. A rule with only push configured won't email you.

  • Push — requires the Trakora app installed and notifications allowed in OS settings.
  • Email — verify the recipient address is correct and not in a spam folder.
  • SMS — requires phone-verified user; balance is per-workspace.
  • WhatsApp — recipient must have opted into the Trakora bot via app.trakora.co.tz/wa-opt-in.

3. Quiet hours

Each user has quiet hours (default 9 pm to 6 am EAT). Alerts during quiet hours are queued and delivered at the next active time.

For critical alerts that must override quiet hours, mark the rule Severity: critical — it ignores quiet hours.

4. Recipient role permission

A dispatcher can't be the recipient of a finance-only alert. Check the rule's recipient list and the recipient's role permissions.

5. Channel cost limits

If your workspace has set a monthly SMS cap (e.g. 50,000 TZS) and it's reached, SMS alerts are paused for the rest of the month. The cap resets on the 1st. Billing → SMS / WhatsApp shows usage and the cap.

6. Check the alert history

Alerts → History. Every fired alert is logged with delivery status per channel. If the row says delivered: push, failed: sms — the rule worked, the channel failed (often phone unreachable).

7. Spam / blocklist

Some carriers in Tanzania mark high-volume sender IDs as spam. If your SMS alerts vanish for a few days, ask us to rotate sender ID. WhatsApp deliveries can be blocked if the recipient hasn't messaged the bot in 24 hours — re-engagement is automatic but adds a few seconds delay.
